(MS SQL/Access & FoxPro) Database Engineer

 What experience you need:

Experience you should have:

• Several years of experience with Microsoft Database Software (SQL Server, Access, FoxPro) FoxPro and MS Access. Web development using West Wind Web Connection is a plus.
• Data Entry and SQL Programming skills. HTML coding a plus
• Ability to detect, debug, and correct errors using a variety of outside and in-house tools.
• Ability to communicate with the end-users and to understand their requirements.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills

• Understanding and experience working in an IT consulting environment supporting a wide range of clients, vertical markets with different levels of technology. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment support multiple customers at once
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including an ability to deal with people at various levels, from technician to executive

• Strong track record in leading a technical team and in building client/ relationships.
• Ability to weigh options and provide the most efficient and cost-effective solution from a number of options.
• Experience providing consulting to clients, with the right balance of initiative and following instructions

• Remote and on-site problem-resolution skills

 Working knowledge of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting products in the following areas:

• Several years of experience with FoxPro and MS Access. 
• Web development using West Wind Web Connection is a plus.

What education/training/certification desired/requested:

• Several years of experience with Microsoft Database Software (SQL and Access) as well as FoxPro. 
• Web development using West Wind Web Connection is a plus.
• Microsoft or FoxPro and/or relevant Database certifications 
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant IT field

 What you will do:

You will provide (minimal) on-site and remote consulting and support services to our client. 

 You are expected to: 

 Format, hygiene, merge, and de-dupe data files from multiple vendors

• Review daily activity reports and take necessary actions to address problems
• Balance daily transaction updates and work with outside vendors to correct discrepancies
• Review and correct records added to the database
• Monitor the application programs that perform real-time database updates
• Create and/or run analytical reports as requested by the end-user clients
• Plan migration from FoxPro to SQL database 
• Enhance upon existing program structure based on client needs
• Data entry as required
• Provide timely ongoing communications with client regarding status and resolution
• Complete other duties as assigned

Where you will do it

You will work primarily remote/telework with occasional visits to our office (Rockville, MD) or clients office (Washington, DC). between 9AM and 6PM (flexible with 8AM start time). After-hours work (projects, break/fix) required, but limited as much as possible.
